Apartment fire on Giles Road

At approximately 8:15 p.m. last night, Blacksburg Police, Fire and Rescue responded to 1301 Giles Road Apartment B due to a fire inside the residence, according to a press release from the Blacksburg Police Department.

A fire occured in Roanoke Street Apartments on the night of Sept. 8. Property manager April DeMotts received a call from the Blacksburg Fire Department at 9:30 p.m. Three residents reported smoke in the area.

This past 23rd of May was the second anniversary of the day I lost my home. An unyielding fire overtook my house and stole every memory of my childhood and life from me. We were the victims of a careless neighbor that spread their ignorance to our home, and their fire became ours. It has taken me two years to be able to face the events that transpired on that day. I remember the clothes I wore, I remember the crisp air of that morning, and I remember — like it was yesterday — the heartache I couldn't face.
