Letter: Come out and support men's basketball by Letter to the editor Wednesday, November 12, 2008; 10:30 PM It seems like only yesterday the Cassell was rocking and we were preparing for Ole' Miss in the quarterfinals of the NIT. Size and brute force magnify Diakite's defensive role by Melanie Wadden, CT Sports Reporter Wednesday, November 12, 2008; 10:01 PM This year's men's basketball program, though a year older than last season, has only one more senior than a year ago. Last year, it was Deron Washington; this year, it is A.D. Vassallo and Cheick Diakite who must bring their senior leadership to the ACC table.Anyone who saw Washington play last year is familiar with his trademark dunking shows. Likewise, Vassallo's uncanny three-point ability distinguishes him from the crowd. Cheick Diakite, however, plays a different role on the team that is often overlooked.
