This time last year, the Virginia Tech softball team was 10-16. They have made a huge turnaround, though, as it enters this weekend, 21-8.

While the majority of Virginia Tech students were back at home for Spring Break, the Virginia Tech softball team boarded a plane to Tempe, Arizona for the Diamond Devil Invitational. The Hokies went 4-1 in the Invitational to bring their overall record to 18-6.

Coming off a 25-33 season, statistics seem to show that the Virginia Tech softball team is going to need to find a new game plan in order to prepare for a more successful 2011 campaign. However, this might not be the case. “We had at times five starters out, it was just ridiculous,” said Scot Thomas, head coach. “It’s a matter of staying healthy; that’s our biggest thing as of right now.”
