The Virginia Tech men’s basketball team will look to climb out of the bottom of the ACC bracket this Sunday, as the Boston College Golden Eagles come to town with the same mission.
Seth Greenberg
Seth Greenberg (April 18, 1956 - ) is the head coach of the Virginia Tech men's basketball team. Since arriving at Tech in 2003, his teams have accumulated a 107-85 overall record and earned one NCAA Tournament appearance, along with three trips to the National Invitational Tournament.
Receiving two ACC Coach of the Year awards in the process, Greenberg has taken the men's basketball team from a Big East afterthought to an Atlantic Coast Conference competitor in seven years.
In 2010, he moved the basketball team into a new $21 million practice facility.
Prior to joining the Hokies, Greenberg served as a head coach at the University of South Florida (1996-2003) and also at Long Beach State University (1990-96). Between 1978 and 1987, he served as an assistant coach at Columbia University (1978-80), the University of Pittsburgh (1980-83), the University of Virginia (1983-84) and the University of Miami (1985-87).
As a student, Greenberg received his bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism at Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating in 1978.
The Virginia Tech Department of Athletics announced in the 2009-10 season that Greenberg signed a contract extension that will keep him the Hokies' coach through the 2013-14 season.
