You have to give it up for the Hokies. Less than a month ago, not many thought they could rebound from consecutive losses at Boston College and Florida State, let alone go on to repeat as ACC Coastal champions.

The Hokies clinched their place in next weekend's ACC Championship Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Virginia Cavaliers 17-14.

The men's soccer team lost 2-1 friday night to in state rival Virginia. The Hokies conceded a late goal and were unable to equalize before time expired.

The volleyball team won their first ACC match on Tuesday night, sweeping the Virginia Cavaliers in straight sets. The win moves the Hokies to 11-2 overall, their best start ever.

With the start of a new athletic season upon us, the University of Virginia is banning signs of any kinds at all sporting events, including football and basketball. Virginia's athletic department instituted this policy in order to promote a "positive game-day environment."
UVA students ask for forgiveness
