Volleyball prepares for opening weekend trifecta

The Tech women's volleyball team will open its season this weekend with three games in the Hawthorn Suites Hokie Invitational. The Hokies will square off against Maryland-Eastern Shore on Friday night at 7 p.m. and then against Winston-Salem State and Coastal Carolina on Saturday at 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. Last season, the Hokies finished with a 14-18 record overall and an 8-14 record in conference. Tech played well at home with a 9-5 record that included six conference wins, but struggled on the road to a 2-11 mark. Still, head coach Chris Riley is optimistic that the away record will improve.
